In addition to the steps listed in my original two posts, this time I also ran Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in safe mode, and then uninstalled both the Intel and AMD video drivers from my laptop (it had two different video display adapters installed).Hurray! Hurray! After five very frustrating days of trying various possible solutions, I finally found a way to successfully upgrade my laptop from Windows 10 Pro version 20H2 to version 21H1. Otherwise, I will have to try restoring a Macrium Reflect image from about a month ago in hopes that might work. This laptop has never had any trouble accepting Windows updates before, so I'm really frustrated, and would really appreciate your advice on what to try next. I've also tried doing the Windows 10 Pro version 21H1 using the Windows 10 Update Assistant, and also by using the Setup.exe file and other installation files from the Media Creation Tool. Renaming the C:\windows\softwaredistribution\download folder.Tried updating Windows using a cleanboot via turning off non-Microsoft services using MSCONFIG.Turned off Hybernation mode in the power options.Turned off Windows Defender and Malwarebytes.Checked Device Manager for errors (none were found, but I did find two drivers that said they could be updated, so i did so (AMD Radeon HD8600M Series Display Driver and Microsoft RRAS Root Enumerator Driver).
